PrideRock Wildlife Refuge (priderock.org) PrideRock Wildlife Refuge is a safe haven for Big Cats that have been abused, abandoned, confiscated or that can no longer be properly cared for by their previous owners for whatever reason. The Refuge is located on 9 acres, thirty miles east of Dallas in Kaufman County, Texas. PrideRock is a non-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt publicly supported organization. The Refuge is operated by Gary and Carol Holliman and is currently home to many lions, tigers, cougars, and wolf-dogs, as well as their own menagerie of family dogs.

Bayou City Art Colony Association (bayoucityartfestival.com) Established in 1972, the Art Colony Association (ACA) is a Texas nonprofit organization dedicated to producing high quality art festivals and events to provide financial support to local non-profit organizations. The ACA produces the Bayou City Art Festival Downtown and the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park.

Geriatric Art Society (jeauxart.com/GAS.html) A group of old guys that go on biannual painting trips. Our last trip was to Rockport, Texas. Our next trip will be to St. Francisville, Louisana in October, 2010.
