It is my understanding that The Uvalde Leader News will feature an article about me in conjunction with my talk at Uvalde's El Progresso Memorial Library and Museum on October 2, 2009 and my display of art there for the month of October, as well as my participation in the Uvalde Visual Arts League Arts Fair on October 3 - 4 in the downtown square. Stay tuned.
April 30, 2009: Houston Chronicle Neighborhood News Article
This article was written by Valerie Sweeten in anticipation of the Bayou City Art Fest in Memorial Park, but it came out after the art show. Jerry Baker took the photograph of me painting the watercolor painting of a cougar overlooking a valley in the Davis Mountains. I come under a section titled “FACES IN THE CROWD.” I will have to admit that this article lifts my spirits to have someone like Valerie write such nice things about me and to have Kelly Kindred and Nancy Wakefield say such complimentary things about me and my art work.

October 17, 2008: Television appearance
Channel 13 TV interviewed me at 10 AM in my studio for their “Houston
Live” program to be aired at 4:40 PM that afternoon. This was part of my being a featured artist in the Bayou City Art Festival.
I had to do some rearranging in my studio to get ready for having
a camera crew interview me. Very exciting!! The TV spot ran all that weekend and for a while I was a celebrity. Below is the video that my grandson, Edmund, posted on youtube for me.
October 15, 2008: Newspaper
article
The Houston Chronicle article about me, my wildlife drawings,
and PrideRock Wildlife Refuge appeared at my doorstep this morning
and far exceeds my expectations. I was awake at 4:30 this morning
wondering how it would turn out. I had one of those gut feelings
you get when something momentous happens in your life when I opened
up the paper to see one of my drawings taking up a half a page of
newspaper. Many thanks to the article's author, Lana Berkowitz, who
did a fantastic job
capturing
my thoughts
and
expressions. To think, only 25 months ago I was just picking up a
drawing pen looking at a blank page in a sketchbook, not knowing
that this small gesture was the first step in a wondrous adventure
into art and wildlife.
